Debnil Chowdhury

Executive Director, Americas Head of Refining and Marketing

Debnil Chowdhury, at IHS Markit, leads the North and Latin American Refining and Marketing research.

Bio

Mr. Chowdhury leads the team of analysts responsible for short and long-term downstream refined product supply, demand, and margin outlooks for North and Latin America.  Since joining IHSMarkit in 2012, he initially led the North American natural gas liquids team where he created IHSMarkit’s proprietary long-term ethane analytics price, supply, and demand forecast model. The model can be utilized to quantitatively link and provide insight on ethane supply/demand to long-term pricing and is utilized by clients to make large capital decisions for petrochemical assets globally.

In his current role in refining, Mr. Chowdhury and his team focus on refined product market forecasting and price forecasting.  He led the IHSMarkit Light and Heavy Naphtha service creating the proprietary refining, NGL, petrochemical supply, demand, and price forecasting models for the service. Recently, Mr. Chowdhury was instrumental in the development IHSMarkit’s views of supply, demand, and refinery rationalization during the COVID-19 crisis and continues on-going work to aid clients to navigate market fluctuations due to the virus.

In addition to his research responsibilities, Mr. Chowdhury has been involved in several consulting projects for refined product market, pricing, and new market entry strategy studies for clients in the U.S Gulf Coast, Eastern U.S., Atlantic Basin, Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, CIS, Africa, Middle East, and Asian markets. Additionally, he has worked closely with private equity and upstream clients to perform project feasibility studies for various oil and gas assets. Mr. Chowdhury has evaluated potential merger, acquisition, and divestiture opportunities. His work included screening of potential assets, specific facility evaluations, and due diligence activities.

Prior to joining IHSMarkit, he was a Senior Market Analyst for Valero where he provided strategic planning and market analysis support for downstream, renewable, and retail assets globally.  Mr. Chowdhury also worked as a Process Engineer for KBR, Bechtel, and the US government where he worked with clients domestically and globally to develop new refining, chemical, and nuclear technologies.

Mr. Chowdhury holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and Certificate in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a MS in Predictive Analytics and Data Science from Northwestern University, and an MBA from Rice University.

 

Ashish Mehta

Bio

Ashish Mehta is Co-founder and managing partner of Owls Partners, a private equity company in alternative investment. He has 10 years of real estate experience as a landlord, investor and a license realtor. Ashish's experience and vast network generates leads to evaluate and bring to our investors. He has a bachelor's degree in MIS and Finance and an MBA from University of Houston. He has over 20 years experience in IT Consulting working with large cap companies related to operations and systems integration.  Ashish is also a successful entrepreneur and owns his own real estate company. In his spare time he enjoys evaluating and participating in the stock market, enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and watching movies.

 

Rajesh Mehta

Bio

Rajesh Mehta is the Co-Founder and managing partner of Owls Partners, a private equity company in alternative investment.

He is considered the key architect of Owls Partners's overall vision. Through his leadership, Owls Partners has grown and transitioned from a small real estate investment club to a private equity company in alternative investments. Rajesh's responsibilities include sourcing, due diligence, strategic planning, portfolio management, business development, accounting, overall strategy and vision of the company. The firm has established a solid foundation by providing the firm's investors a passive income platform with double digit returns.

He has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston and an MBA from Rice University. He has over 20 plus years of experience in Oil and Gas and EPC. He has held a number of leadership positions in engineering, operations, project management, business development, new technology and strategic planning. Rajesh is also a successful entrepreneur and business owner of an imaging facility.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, coaching youth baseball and basketball, watching his children play competitive sports and mentoring young professionals.

 

Francois Mostert

International Finance Executive, CFO, SVP, VP

Bio

Mr. Mostert is an international finance executive with wide, deep experience managing domestic entities while supporting global matrixed operations. Embraces diversity, inclusion, and cultural nuance, as evidenced by holding leadership positions in 4 countries on 3 continents (North America, Australia, Africa). Francois Mostert is currently serving as Vice President, Operations, Denver, CO for Worley. During his career he successfully facilitated global and domestic M&A, including Due Diligence and complex integrations requiring finance, IT, org structure, systems, talent, logistical, and service/product realignment. ‘Go-to’ leader for solving daunting problems with innovative, deployable solutions that lower costs, improve morale, halt attrition, and perpetuate partnerships and profitable legacy agreements. Bilingual English and Afrikaans. Chartered Accountant (CPA equivalent).

 

Karl Watson

Bio

Karl Watson has served as Chief Executive Officer for Forterra, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRTA) since July 2019.  With more than 30 years of global experience in the construction materials industry, he has served in senior executive roles for a number of large operating companies in the industry, including as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Summit Materials, Inc. (NYSE: SUM), President of the Cement & Southwest Ready Mix division at Martin Marietta, Inc. (NYSE: MLM), and a number of leadership positions at CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (NYSE: CX) and Rinker Group Ltd, including President of CEMEX USA.  Mr. Watson has served as the past Chairman of the National Ready Mix Concrete Association, Florida Concrete and Products Association, and past Vice Chairman of the Portland Cement Association. He has also served on the Executive Committees of the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association, Cement, Concrete & Aggregates Australia and the American Concrete Pipe Association.  Mr. Watson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University as well as a Master’s in Business Administration from Rice University (Jones School) and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Karl is married to Michele Watson, is the father to Christopher Phillips, Lindsey Bates, Karl H. Watson III, Alexandra Watson, and Cameron Watson.
